Spring fever has arrived. It’s April and there’s still A LOT to fit in. But, your students need a little motivation to keep going and end the school year strong. That’s where games come in! Whether it’s morning meeting, a brain break, or a rainy indoor recess day, games are the key to keep students engaged and excited about learning.
Top 5 Morning Meeting Games for April
Stump the Genius is one of my FAVORITE games (I have a lot of favorites–okay!). I learned it from one of my favorite high school teachers, Mr. Davis. We would play in his psychology class before a test. Thanks, Mr. Davis!!

Here’s how to play:
Step 1: Prep the Questions
Have each student write 3–4 questions (and answers!) based on the skills or content you’re reviewing. This is secretly where the magic happens—they’re reviewing without even realizing it.
Step 2: Choose the “Geniuses”
Randomly select 3 students to sit at the front of the room. These students are your first round of “geniuses.”
Step 3: Let the Game Begin
Students take turns choosing one genius to ask a question:
- If the genius gets it right → they stay in their seat
- If the genius gets it wrong → the student who asked the question takes their place
Step 4: Keep It Going!
Rotate through questions until time is up. The students still sitting at the front at the end? 👑 They’re the winners!

April Memory Games
Memory games are one of those activities where students will keep BEGGING for more. Luckily, I have you covered! April Memory Games are the perfect activity to get focused. Teachers love them because they are a quiet way to exercise your brain.

If your students are bouncing off the walls (hi, spring energy 👋), this is your go-to.
Why teachers love it:
- Quick and easy to implement (zero prep 🙌)
- Builds attention to detail + working memory
- Keeps the whole class engaged (no one “checks out”)
- Perfect for morning meeting, brain breaks, or test review days
How it works:
- Show a themed April scene (spring, Easter, Earth Day, etc.)
- Hide it after a short time
- Ask questions about what they saw
Students become laser focused because they want to “win”—and you get meaningful skill practice without the struggle.

Fun with Peeps
If you only try one of these April morning meeting games, make it this one! This game is a twist on “Doggy, Doggy, Where’s Your Bone?” if you’ve ever played that. It’s called Peep Sneak. You could play with a real peep or use this free printable.
How to play:
- Sit in a circle
- Pick one student to close their eyes with the peep sitting on the floor in front of them
- While their eyes are closed, point to another student to silent sneak the peep away and hide it behind their back
- The first student opens their eyes and has 3 tries to guess who took the peep
- The sneak (peep taker) gets to be the next guesser
